- We had several families out today with most of our schools on fall break. We were short several guys on our set up and tear down teams and the guys who were there stepped up in a big way. - This Sunday marks the 1 year anniversary of Rock Bridge Community Church in Calhoun. We had no idea what to expect in September of 2007 and we had no idea how to be portable church in two locations but God showed up and we have had an incredible year! We are going to worship together this Sunday at 10:30 and then eat together on the front lawn. Make plans to be in church this Sunday and bring a side dish or dessert to share as we celebrate what God has done.
- Baptism at the creek last Sunday was incredible. It is awesome to see 1000 people together witnessing dozens of people go public with their faith in Jesus Christ.
- There is no better time than now to invite your friends, neighbors, and coworkers to church this Sunday. It is going to be an amazing Sunday!
- After taking last Sunday off, our Student Ministry is back this Sunday at “The Room” on Park Ave (across from the Calhoun Library). Dinner starts at 6:30pm and we finish at 8:30pm.
- See you Sunday!

Friday night Football is back and I cannot wait to get to the game tomorrow night. Sonoraville High School is beginning a new season against Catoosa with high expectations, building from a historic win last year. The Gordon Central Warriors travel to Model, and Calhoun High School travels to Dalton for what is one of the biggest rivalries of the year! Calhoun is looking for another year of bragging rights after a last-second win last season and Dalton is looking for a little retribution. I think we all know how this game is going to turn out!
Rock Bridge Calhoun has been invited to be part of a joint tailgater between the Calhoun and Dalton Quarterback Clubs — our very own Rock Bridge band will be playing during the pre-game festivities!! Come on out and support your school, our young people, or just our church … food, inflatables, and good music . Join us this Friday around 4:45 at Harmon Field in Dalton for what will be a great time and a great game.

After taking the last two Sundays off for a little vacation with my family, it was GREAT to be back in church today. The worship was incredible, the message rocked, and there were several families visiting for the first time. It was a great day to be back. Here are the highlights.
- Matt wrapped up the “Man vs Wild” series in a powerful way talking about living with conviction. He defined conviction as “making Godly choices that are courageously lived out”. Here are a few insights from today’s message that challenged me.
- We will never have to violate the Word of God to maintain the blessings of God!
- Having courage is often times more important that having knowledge. When it comes to our convictions, it is often times not about a lack of knowledge, but is a presence of fear!
- The more we live by conviction, the more clarity we have. Having conviction gives you clarity about what to do.
- I am pumped about our first ever 1st Wednesday service on August 6th! I hope you are making plans to be a part of this important event in the history of your church. We will eat together at 6pm, worship and share communion together at 7pm. Childcare will be available for birth through preschool.
- Our student ministry has been on a summer break and I miss hanging out with our students. We are kicking off this ministry bigger and better on August 17th in our new facility in downtown Calhoun. If you are interested in hanging out with our students on Sunday nights or if you want some more information about our student ministry, I would love to hear from you. Just send me an email to carll@rockbridge.cc
- Next week we begin a new series called “Domino”. God did some incredible things through the “Man vs Wild” series and Matt and I are praying hard expecting God to accomplish some great things in the next several weeks. Make plans to be here next Sunday and bring someone new with you!
- Small Groups are an important part of who we are at Rock Bridge Calhoun. If you are not in a small group today, you are missing out. Small Groups are a great way to build great relationships and grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Group Link is coming up soon to help get you plugged into one of our many groups meeting throughout Gordon County.
I would love to hear from you! If you have a story to share or want to offer some feedback about our service just click on the comment section of this blog. I look forward to sharing what is going on at Rock Bridge Calhoun while celebrating what God is doing in our midst.
